UK to host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)

UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26)

The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021.

The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The UK is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to inspire climate action ahead of COP26.

What you should know about the UN Climate Change Conference

The UN Climate Change Conference is yearly conferences held in the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

It is a formal meeting of all UNFCCC Parties (Conference of the Parties, COP) to discuss progress in dealing with climate change.

Proffer solutions and encourage action for better result.

The first UNFCCC Conference of the Parties held in Berlin, Germany from 28 March to 7 April 1995.

The last was held in Spain after being moved from Brazil (withdrew from hosting the event after the election of Jair Bolsonaro as president) to Chile (withdrew from hosting the event due to the 2019 Chilean protests) and finally Spain.
